Well now, let's see what's happening with everyone...
Vehlah'Ra/Kartacian Ties
Man is that Prince Stuart a real handful!! I think the Andomina Imari is about to go out of her mind... figuratively and literally! But it's all good. It would appear the tensions between these two mysterious worlds are only increasing and while Imari seems to want to keep things in perspective, I have to wonder to what end? The questions still remain: Who are these Kartacians really? Where did they come from and how in Ahl's name did they get their hands on weapons of such power?!! Me thinks Imari has much to consider here.
As it stands, the Kartacian Prince is in a stand off with the Colonial Security Captain, the Caledite Kalen, on his home planet of Talon; or Talen with the proper accent. We learn some interesting things in this exchange between the two men, three if you want to count the Colonial viper pilot, Alvis, who was sent to stop Kalen from landing on Talon. Why not allow Kalen to land on Talon? There's a mystery here folks, one begging to be solved.
What is it that we learn you ask? For starters, we learn that somehow Kartacia is responsible for whatever heartache it was that befell Kalen's home world of Caledon. Stuart deftly reminds Kalen to stow his hostilities toward Kartacia and that, "The race is `Kartacian'. Kartens died with Kobol, remember that!" Ooh, really, wonder what happened here, huh? Nothing like juicy gossip on the new 'allies'!
And poor Alvis! A simple Colonial human among two creatures who, without laying a hand on one another, have somehow managed to beat the crap outta each other! Too funny. Hey, Alvis, maybe if you click your heels together three times the esteemed Wizard of Talon might send you home. What’s that? Red, sparkly shoes? Who knew! ;)
Guess we wait and see now how the Prince of Kartacia handles the Andomina's request for the return of both Alvis and Kalen. After all, Stuart has his hands full as it is dealing with a much larger threat at the moment. He was just given word that a Kartacian battleship liken to the Death Star has mysteriously come out of retirement to attack everyone's senses. And onboard the Harrow, being kept by Stuart’s arch enemy, Draxx, are some figures of notoriety... namely Stuart's love, Alycia, his best friend, Hans - who happens to be the Prince of Kartacia’s protectorate world, Dornia - and two Vehlah'Rans whose return is a political and moral necessity.
Oh that evil Emperor Draxx... I suppose it doesn’t hurt to remind you all here that Draxx is now in league with the Chrysalis Avren.- who we know is always up to no good... razzum frazzum... ah bloody hell! Let’s just say if something isn’t done to correct this little mess, Vehlah’Ra and Kartacia will be snuggling up with each other alright - on the proverbial battle field... Oh joy!
The Good Guys
Okay, I promised not to laugh here... but some things just can't be helped! From the top:
Athena is trying to work with the Harbinger crew to reach Cerina and Alerick before something else goes wrong... all the while no matter what seems to come out of Athena’s mouth, someone from that camp is there to take her remark the wrong way! Really this comes as no surprise since I’ve had the honor of seeing how Athena actually works. Diplomacy isn’t in her vocab. This Seraph prefers to make her statements with a bit of force and it’s really funny to see her work alongside a crew that demands she wear kid gloves! Piece of advice here, Athena, just keep your foot in your mouth unless you like the exercise! I’m just dying to know too if Gerard grants Athena permission to tinker around with his beloved freighter. (No worries here, Gerard, Athena is ace when it comes to tweaking... just think “Tim the Toolman Taylor”!)
Meanwhile, Alerick is still on Kholos and was in the process of enjoying himself for the first time in, oh how long has it been, Alerick... that long huh... before an image of Cerina ruined all his fun. That evil wench! And what twisted logic of Alerick’s demands he go after her I just have to ask?! After all that’s happened to Alerick no thanks to Cerina you’d think the lad would grow a brain and leave well enough alone! Guess that kiss in the airlock did wonders! Poor guy has no idea what awaits him.
After Alerick is reduced to a puddle of mush on the dance floor from his telepathic confabulation with the flighty Cerina, he somehow manages to convince the three women looking after him to help him get to her. Now, from this reader’s pov, Alerick must have been his charming self to get them to agree to his wildly ridiculous plans of rescue since one of the women suggest the use of a light racer so that he might reach Cerina faster. Isn’t that kinda like foregoing one’s last meal and running to the electric chair? But, it would appear, Alerick’s infamous luck holds true to course and no sooner is he ready to take flight than is he arrested by Kholosian security. Poor guy is hauled away for extradition to Vehlah’Ra... all at Athena’s request. This arrest supposedly orchestrated as part of the Seraph’s plans to get at Cerina. LOL.... oh this is rich! Ali, Ali... when will you learn!
Okay, so we have Athena and Gerard rushing to Alerick and Cerina’s last known location and that in itself might prove a good thing. However, and this is a big however, taking a closer look at the backup crew, I can only laugh harder! Denna is Alerick’s psychologist and about as nutty as they come! Currently she’s onboard the Harbinger with Athena and Gerard headed for PC-5, all in the hopes of reaching Alerick and keeping him stable throughout what is to come. We see some interaction between Denna and Gerard here, and folks, it ain’t lookin’ good. I quickly came to realize that with reinforcements like those two who needs bad guys?! Ohh but that crew is one messed up bunch. Gerard just simply has a way with interpreting things though, so I warn you now, if you take him at his word, you do so at your own risk. As for Denna, well, she should be in the straightjacket not sizing it for Alerick!
The Bad Guys
Heh. You know, despite the fact that they are the bad guys, you gotta give them credit!! They have it together. I mean, despite the height of Cerina’s hate for Avren, you simply have got to give the two of them credit. Not only do they put their differences aside to function together for the common goal of not landing on Vehrik’s shit list, but while they are playing real nice-nice with each other, they are still endeavouring to screw each other over! C’mon now, ya gotta admire that!
Avren has just left the Harrow for his own vessel and it’s clear the man has plans. He has his posse in tow now which will make it harder for anyone to get to him though still, it remains to be seen just how much help little Malis is! Malis as it turns out is a Chrysalis as well only, to put it kindly, not as evolved as Avren is. Which only means Malis has something Avren wants - that being the creature’s ability to heal others completely - something Avren would be remiss to toss out with Cerina skulking in the wings! So far Avren’s agenda is a bit cloudy but that seems intentional on his part. Avren doesn’t like sharing. Guess we’ll see what he’s got planned once he feels like letting us in some.
As for Cerina, she’s still onboard the Horizon at PC-5 trying to get Jaquita to Neffrus. And how does that little sprite pay her back for such kindness? Well, as the ship is plunging to the surface, and the crew to their apparent deaths, Jaquita takes a moment to flip out totally, her personality splitting in two. When Cerina tried to redirect Jaquita to safety, the little Hellcat shoots at Cerina then escapes all by her lonesome in a tiny two seater vessel. To say Cerina is less than pleased with this turn of events is an understatement! I can’t wait to see what the dark Seraph will do to correct this little ‘lapse’ in judgement on her friend’s part. Oh poor, Jaquita. I wonder if playing Princess Leia to Neffrus, as Chris so fondly put it, wouldn’t have been the better call here!
K, that’s all I have for now. I’ll update some more as the facts come in.
