Hello Everyone!
On November 5th, 2004, the game managers of RealmWars convened for their monthly meeting. Discussions were plentiful and fruitful. On the agenda for that particular evening was something of great import, not only to we game managers but to everyone else here as well.
We’d like to extend a hearty welcome and congratulations to Titus Hale, our newest Acting Game Manager!
Through Titus’ tireless efforts, he has done not only an exceptional job with his writing contributions but he has, as well, taken steps that go above and beyond that aspect. Receiving AGM status is not an easy task and, as Titus has no doubt discovered, lots of hard work sometimes. We here at RealmWars like to reward initiative and commitment. Titus embodies what we are looking for in members of our group. Patience, understanding, drive and the willingness to help others along are just a few of those qualities.
Titus has worked diligently and carefully to setup, run and maintain the KAZZA GARR thread, a unit independent of TSC: RealmWars which requires constant input. He has stepped up to the plate and taken on the mentoring of two new writers, both of whom seem to be fairing very well alongside him. Way to go Kay and D! You guys ROCK!! The icing on the cake here, however, is Titus’ contributions idea-wise. Never short on these suckers, he is continually offering them up as alternatives to what already is helping to effectively broaden the vision and scope of RealmWars. We value input and every suggestion is seriously considered, no matter how “rough” it may appear in its initial stages.
Interactive, or shared, fiction is not an easy venue. It is time consuming hence the pace is slower than most other forms of "gaming" entertainment. It requires a firm foundation upon which members may build. It requires commitment from its writers so that the stories we’ve built don’t come crashing down around our worn out lil’ fingees. It means patience to work with someone who perhaps is still insecure or troubled by previous negative experiences elsewhere. It means understanding the group mentality and being able to work fluidly within its structures without alienating anyone. It means a growing time commitment should you make it to AGM status - all without monetary compensation; one’s only reward being the satisfaction that is gained at the end of a well written post or thread.
Our game managers are a different breed apart from the norm, at least we believe that to be the case here. When a player puts forth a tremendous effort such as Titus has done, we should be able to somehow acknowledge it. Some might argue making such an individual an AGM is more punishment than reward, and on various days that statement may have a ring of truth in it, but there is no denying a leader when you see one. Titus is such a man. He has proven his worth and we applaud him. By keeping true to himself and those he has vowed to help serve, Titus has become an essential, integral, asset to our gaming arena. Without AGMs like Titus, Sandy, Bruce and Chris, RealmWars would be nothing but your average run-of-the-mill, substandard, interactive fiction environment. Oh, and of course, we cannot forget our members themselves for without them we’d be as shallow as the rest.
With all that said, allow us to congratulate Titus once more on his new AGM status. How we lucked in on getting him, we’ll never know, suffice it to say that there has to be some higher power we know nothing about! We humbly thank you, Titus, for your efforts here and we can only hope you enjoy the ride with the rest of us!!
Sincerely,
Lisa and Andrea, The Seraph Chronicles®: RealmWars Game Managers
